3rd Party Authorized DPS Road Testing
Patriot Driving Academy is authorized by DPS to offer 3rd party testing for you to obtain a Class C driver’s license in Texas.
We only provide the Road Test Exam.

We do not accept walk-in appointments.

Please note: Class C testing is provided at any authorized 3rd party testing facility and at the DPS offices.
Due to instructor availability, students must be able to communicate clearly in English in order to conduct the road test.
FOR TEENS 16-17
Schedule a Texas DPS Road Test for drivers age 16-17
What you need:
Possess a valid Texas Learner’s Permit. (Restricted license, restriction BF).
Permit must be held for a minimum of 6 months.
Be a minimum of 16 years old. Students CANNOT legally test before their 16th birthday.
Course Completion:
Complete an approved Teen Driver’s Education Course through a Parent-Taught program.
Documents Needed (Must be completed and printed):
1) Have a DE, DEE, or PT certificate of driver’s education completion labeled for “FOR DRIVER’S LICENSE ONLY.” If the student is using a parent-taught certificate, we advise the designated parent-taught instructor to be present during testing.

FOR ADULTS 18-24
Schedule a Texas DPS Road Test for adults 18-24
What you need:
Possess a valid Texas Learner’s Permit (Restricted license, restriction B).
Course completion:
Complete an approved Adult Driver’s Education Course (ADE-1317 Approved certificate).

1) Must provide ADE-1317 Certificate.
2) Impact Texas Adult Driver’s Video (ITAD). Click HERE to watch now (certificate is only valid for 90 days).
FOR ADULTS 25+
Schedule a Texas DPS Road Test for adults 25+
What you need:
Possess a valid Texas Learner’s Permit (Restricted license, with restriction B).
Course completion:
Adults aged 25 and older are not legally required to complete a Driver’s Education Course. However, they must still take the Texas Written Road Signs and Road Rules Exam. This exam can be taken either directly at the DPS office or as part of an Adult Driver’s Education Course.
We recommend that students enroll in the Adult Driver’s Education course if they need support preparing for the written exams.
This course includes the exam itself and offers retake opportunities in the case the student does not pass on the first attempt.
